In imagining a program for a visitors center in Pioneers Park, I decied to explore Nebraska's fossil record. The core of the center is dedicated to an exhibit of local prehistory, and its floor and roof are stratified like natural rock.



As the visitor enters the exhibit at ground level and in the present, he or she slowly descends, following the exhibit counterclockwise and back in time. The oldest fossils are on display at the lowest strata at the rear.
